About Our Studio Journey

Dance-a-Cross (DAC) is more than just a dance studio; it is a family-owned legacy. Founded in 1995 by Susan Palso in a humble basement in Des Moines, we started with just 13 students. Today, we are proud to foster a community of over 500 dancers. Our growth has been fueled by faith, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to quality dance education.

From our early days on the south side of Des Moines in 1998 to our expansion into West Des Moines in 2005, and now our brand new facility on Thornton Ave (2025), every move has been about providing more space and better opportunities for our dancers. We have evolved from a single room to a multi-studio complex featuring the Technique Room, the Gallery, the Ballroom, the Lighthouse, and the specialized Studio 95.

Our Educational Philosophy

We are a Christian-based studio, which influences every aspect of our curriculum. Our music selection includes Broadway, pop, and meaningful contemporary Christian and worship music. We believe in modesty, which reflects in our conservative and attractive costume choices and choreography that is always approved by our director, Susan Palso.

Our goal is to ensure that every movement on stage is pleasing to God and family-friendly, ensuring that our audiences feel comfortable and uplifted during every performance.

Class Offerings & Growth

Whether your child is taking their first steps in a 'Mommy'n'Me' tumbling class or a seasoned high schooler is mastering pointe' and contemporary techniques, we have a place for them. Our recreational classes in Tap, Jazz, Ballet, Cheer, and Hip-Hop are designed to provide individual attention in a supportive environment.

Room Rental: Your Event Space Solution
